Q: In your Messianic Bible Study titled “The Sermon on the Mount,” you mentioned that Jesus kept all of the commands of the Mosaic Law that were applicable to Him. Which of the 613 commands were not applicable to Him and why?
A: Many of the 613 commandments were only applicable to women. These laws dealt with menstrual periods and other female issues. As a man, Yeshua did not need to keep any of these laws. Another set of laws pertained to specific professions (e.g., farming) and were limited to those who pursued these professions. The Messiah was not a farmer but a carpenter by trade. Therefore, He did not need to fulfill any of the commandments relevant to other trades. This is why I specified that Yeshua kept every commandment applicable to Him. At the same time, it needs to be understood that He did not even break any commandment that was not applicable to Him. He truly kept the entire Mosaic Law and was therefore the Lamb of God without blemish.
