The Lord’s Prayer (Mt. 6:9-13 )

Yeshua – The Life of Messiah from a Messianic Jewish Perspective by Dr Arnold G. Fruchtenbaum, p183

Yeshua outlined a model prayer with six parts. This has traditionally been called “the Lord’s Prayer,” but the real Lord’s prayer is found in John 17. Yeshua introduced this section with the words:

After this manner therefore pray ye

(Mt. 6:9).

He did not say, “Pray this prayer!” He said, “Pray in this manner,” meaning, “Follow this basic outline.” Yet, a segment of the church repeats this prayer every Sunday, turning it into vain repetition. That was not the intent. The intent was to teach how to organize one’s prayer life. This does not rule out short, quick prayers throughout the day, of course; but for regular prayer time, believers are advised to follow a six-point outline.
