This section of the Book of Acts picks up with the life of Saul during the third persecution of the Church.
Saul was brought up as a Pharisee. This meant that at the age of five he began the study of the Scriptures. At the age of ten, he began to study rabbinic tradition. At the age of twelve, he learned a manual trade, in Saul’s case, it was tent making. At the age of thirteen, he had his bar mitzvah or his confirmation. At that point, he was sent to Jerusalem to study at the feet of Gamaliel according to Acts 22:3.
